Recognize the double consumption in Ethereum: Dive in the mining

Ethereum, one of the most popular decentralized applications (DAPP), is based on its original cryptocurrency, Ethereum Classic (etc.). The problem is referred to as a dual consumption in which the user tries to use the same cryptocurrency twice without anyone noticing or intervening.

In this article we examine how miners recognize and prevent double consumption in the Ethereum network.

Understand Dual Consumum

Double consumption occurs when a user tries to consume the same coin twice, either as a payment of goods or services or by transfer from a wallet to another. This is often referred to as “double consumption” because it leads to two identical events stored in a block chain.

How do mining workers recognize the double consumption

Mining workers play a crucial role in recognizing double consumption by following the entire block chain. You do that:

  • Block analysis : When a new event is sent to the network, miners create a block that contains this event. This block is then added to the block chain.

2 You also check whether the sender’s wallet has enough means to achieve an event.

  • Block chain analysis : After all events have been checked, the miners analyze the entire block chain to recognize suspicious activities. This includes:

* Check copier events

* Make sure that the event is used by the scratch pocket (i.e. no money is available)

* To ensure that the event is not carried out with false or outdated income parameters

  • hash functions : Mining workers use complex mathematical algorithms that are known as Hash functions to ensure the integrity of the blockchain. These hash functions take up all information in the block and create a clear digital fingerprint (or “hash”), which represents the entire block.

  • Comparison of hashes : By comparing the hash every trade with similar drains within the block, mining workers can recognize possible anomalies or inconsistencies.

The role of the miner in preventing the dual consumption

To prevent double consumption, mining workers use various techniques:

  • Block limit

: Mining workers are limited to creating blocks with a maximum size of 8 MB. If a miner tries to create too many events in the block, the network can reject it.

2 This ensures that no event is used twice without detection.

  • Certification of feed parameters : Mining workers check whether each inlet parameter (e.g. gas price, amount) has sufficient funds or is in a valid area.

Bergmann consequences for recognizing double consumption

Although mining workers play a crucial role in the detection and prevention of double consumption, they also have several consequences:

  • Payments : Mining workers are calculated for a small fee (currently 2% of the block fee) for the validation of each block.

  • Network overload : For aggressive mining, the network can be clogged and the entire block chain slows down.

  • ** to reject the event

Diploma

The unique consensus salgorithm of Ethereum, Proof of Work (Pow), requires miners and complex calculations to solve a difficult mathematical puzzle. Mining workers use this calculation performance to identify double consumption by analyzing the entire blockchain and compare the seals between events. By using these techniques, mining workers prevent double consumption and ensure the integrity and safety of the Ethereum network.
